Student Names
All my attendance sheets and grade sheets use the Korean system of three syllables,
family name (one syllable) first, and personal name (usually two syllables) second.
For this class, please write your name in English, using the consistent Korean style format,
with family name CAPITALIZED first, personal name hyphenated,
on all emails, tasks, & assignments, and in your Student Code (see below).
(Although I appreciate your thoughtfulness, changing this format to Western style can be confusing and makes your name harder to find in a list of 66 students!)
이순신 = LEE, Soon-shin
박혜련 = PARK, Hye-ryan
고은미 = KO, Eun-mi
NOTE: IF you have an English/Western name, and IF you like it, using it in class time can help you to put on your 'English' linguistic persona (your self-image, personality, who you are). You may feel a little more comfortable 'switching' into English: thinking, speaking, and writing it. However, please keep the format of family name first and personal name second.
KIM, Daniel
SANTOS, Maria
BARRON, Susan
Phone Partners
To promote community, discussion, and second-language use in this predominantly on-line course,
you will be randomly assigned a Phone Partner from inside your class. You should plan to call every two or three weeks and use English for the call. You can receive up to 3 bonus % points, so take a screen shot of your call and add a link to it in your Portfolio under the Bonuses section.

Student Portfolio
Each student will receive a link to a custom Google Sheet set up as a portfolio. You and your professor are the only ones who will see this Google Sheet. You will use this Portfolio to submit and collect all your tasks and assignments for this class, check your rubrics, and track your scores. You can ask questions and see all your marks in one place! You can edit some parts, while your professor can edit others. You will never need to wonder how you are doing in this class, because everything is right there in the Portfolio.

Student Gallery
The Gallery is a shared digital display space, created with Google Slides.
Each student can claim a slide with their name,
recolour and decorate it as they wish, and add their visual projects to their own slide.

So that it doesn't get too huge, we are going to limit ourselves to one slide each - but so that your beautiful work doesn't vanish daily, we will keep the old projects ON the slide but shrink them down to thumbnails. See my example - which will always be the first slide!
When you do a visual project, you will post them not only to your Portfolio but to the Gallery so that we can see and appreciate each other's projects and create class community. Please respect your classmates' slides: since we all have edit access to our own Class Gallery, be careful that you only work on your own slide and do not edit or alter others.
