Full Instructions
1. Pick your 'esoteric hue' (unusual colour) from the Student List above If you don't like any of those, you can try the Historical Hues!
2. Once you have all picked your own unique colour, you can begin researching it. You should use Google or another English search engine, or set Naver to English-only results. If you use any physical sources such as magazines or books, they should also be in English, or you will need to translate the concepts yourself.
3. Take a piece of A4 paper or open a new document in your word processor, and KEEP TRACK of every source you use, both text and images.
4. Take simple notes. Try to find out details about the colour origin, history, meaning, feeling, and symbolism if possible.
5. Write a paragraph of explanation about the colour and why it is unique. You must paraphrase (do not copy other writers' words; use your own words to give the same ideas) your text sources.
6. Include 1 - 3 images that help to represent the colour.
7. You must create a short resource list for both the text and image resources. Note: you do not need a formal APA bibliography for this informal paragraph - the URLs or book titles alone are acceptable for this assignment.
8. Now take your paragraph, your images, and your resource list and put them all together. Create an A4 poster - either landscape or portrait is fine - your choice. Put your ID (Student Code and name) on the top right of the page, paragraph below that, resource list at the bottom of the page. You can put the images wherever you like on the page. Do not worry about getting your English perfect: it's more important to do the research, get the information, and collate (collect, put together, organize) the ideas.

FINISHED PARAGRAPH
"The name of the color 'peach' comes from the fruit called 'peach'. The word comes from the Latin 'persica', which means 'the fruit from Persia' but the fruit really originated in China. In Asian mythology, peaches represent long life or immortality; they are considered an auspicious symbol and feature in paintings & murals. Real peaches can be many colors on both the outside and the inside: ivory, pink, golden, orange, and even red. Peach color is usually orange with white added (a tint), sometimes with pink shading. 'Apricot' and 'coral' are similar colors: apricot is usually more yellow and coral is more pink. Peach is considered a pastel color which is warm, friendly, and happy. It also stands for modesty and youthful innocence. It is a popular choice for children's clothing and decor. "

This poster uses a portrait format, and splits the paragraph into two sections for layout reasons. The ID block is at the top, and the references are at the bottom. The designer has used two images and a border of Paris Green to make the poster 'pop'.
This designer has used a landscape format, and three images of their chosen color, plus a colour block to give a strong visual impression.
Landscape format, with a strong title, a border, and three offset images giving a clear idea of how the colour was used - plus an excellent set of sources!

Bonus Hint: If you are reading in English, find a colour name and don't know what actual hue it is, look it up in
Color: The Universal Language.
Type your colour name into the search bar on the left side of the page and then read the title of the list you find it in. It will tell you the family (yellows, oranges, purples, green-blues, etc.) so you have a better idea.
